La Favilla

The cooperative “La Favilla” is responsible for the maintenance and management of the entire infrastructure. Over 50 members belong to this cooperative, including the Unione Femminile Cattolica Ticinese (a catholic union of women from Ticino), which founded the cooperative over 70 years ago. It is important to emphasise that administrative tasks, cleaning, tidying up, maintenance and general management have always been carried out exclusively by volunteers. Fundraising is also carried out completely voluntarily, without relying on any professional organisation.

Philosophy

From the very beginning, the philosophy behind the cooperative that runs the house relies on a few, fundamental values. The tariff is commensurate with both the donations received and the maintenance costs. This makes of La Montanina one of the least expensive houses for groups currently available in Ticino and beyond. Furthermore, the cooperative has always endeavoured to offer customised and particularly advantageous services to families, groups, schools, parishes and associations. Last but not least, it is worth mentioning the great social commitment that the cooperative has always undertaken by supporting the expenses of lonely people or needy families for participation in activities and stays at La Montanina.
